| Custom Forward Controls |
Are you tired of having your feet tucked up beneath you? Do you want a more custom look for the controls area of your bike? Don't want to pay $600 for a set of forward controls? Well, you have come to the right place. I can make you a set of custom forward control plates to fit your 2000-2008 Honda Sabre or your Honda Spirit 1100. The information provided here applies to parts for the Honda Sabre. Although most of the information here still applies, contact me to discuss the application for the Spirit.
The Product:
Custom Forward Controls for 2000-2006 Honda Sabre and the Honda Spirit
1100.
The Materials:
The forward controls are made of 3/8"
aluminum. The aluminum is polished to produce
a shine that is close to chrome. The brake
extensions are made of steel and painted
black or powder coated.. The shift linkages
are made of steel and painted black, powder
coated, or stainless steel.
The Kit:
The kit includes everything necessary to
bolt on the control plates, shift pedal,
and brake pedal.
note: aftermarket pegs and adapters are required. Stock peg will not bolt up. Contact me for recomendations on products or questions.
The Options:
This product is unique because it allows
the biker to choose shape and extension length
according to individual taste and needs.
Recently I have developed a layout that allows
the biker to raise the pegs up 1" in
addition to moving forward.
Shape Options:
The shape of your forward controls is up
to you. Popular styles are "U"
shape, Triangle shape, and block shape. Although
these are the popular styles, I am open to
suggestions. Any shape is possible as long
as I can get the mounting points, pegs, and
control points on the shape.

Extension Length Options:
The length of your custom forward controls
is up to you. You choose how far forward
you want to move your pegs and controls.
Control plates can be cut from 0" to
6" over stock length. The length you
choose is dependent on the length of your
legs and how you want your legs to bend.
I can provide some recommendations. Experience
has shown me that the following lengths apply
based on a persons inseams. This chart assumes
that the biker has a stock seat. Some aftermarket
seats move a person back on the bike. You
need to take this into consideration when
deciding on the appropriate length.
| Extension Lengths by Inseam | |
| Inseam | Extension Length |
| Up to 30" | 0" to 3" |
| 30" to 32" | 3" to 4" |
| 32" to 34" | 4" to 5" |
| 34" to 36" | 5" to 6" |
| 36" and up | 6" |
Rise:
This option allows the biker to raise the
pegs up 1". This can be chosen in conjuction
with any extention length. One of the benefits
of raising the pegs is increased ground clearance
for cornering. Comfort is the other potential
benefit. Some bikers like to have the pegs
a little higher in the air. Raising the pegs
moves them a little closer to the rider.
If you choose this option, consider choosing
a longer extension if your inseam is on the
top end of the above chart.

Pin the Peg:
One of the benefits of using Kuryakyn pegs,
is all the options that are available. Their
stirrups add the floor board feel and comforate while
maintaining the peg look. However, the stirrup
will act like a lever if you put weight on
it. This will unscrew your mount, leaving
you with a loose peg. Not good if you are
no where near a 3/4" wrench. Fortunately,
there is an option! If you plan on using
stirrups on your bike, order this upgrade.
It will proved dual pins in the brake side
forward control to prevent the mount from
spinning. Problem solved.
Other Items Needed to Install:
This kit provides you with the pieces to
extend your pegs forward. In order to mount
your pegs, you will need peg mounts and pegs
with male ends. Kuryakyn makes the peg mount:
part number 8061 Short Magnum Peg Mount.
You will also need a peg with a male end.
Kuryakyn part number 8008 Male Peg Mount
will work with all the Kuryakyn pegs. Other
brands of pegs with a male end designed for
a Harley Davidson will probably work. I have
used the Arlen Ness pegs and they look quite
nice. This option gives the buyer hundreds
of options. I suggest you shop around and
find the pegs you like best that fit the
bike style best.
The Instruction Booklet:
This page will give you the basic installation
procedure. If you have questions, feel free
to contact me.
